Andy Lee: Overhyped?
This is turning out to be the year of upsets. Middleweight Prospect Andy Lee took his first "L" of his career from a 7th round stoppage by former Contender contestant Brian Vera (Damn...the 7th round is starting to become that round dudes get bodied in LOL).
Some were calling it an early stoppage as Lee was just taking loads of shots (no homo) and still trying to connect. But it was obvious Lee was a couple punches away from getting really hurt, and according to Emmanuel Steward (who trains Lee)he had no problem with the stoppage. At this point, why not John Duddy vs Andy Lee?
Here's the video of the stoppage:Casamayor KO's Katsidis
Wow...what a fight!! I didn't know much about this kid Katsidis but that he was being compared to Arturro Gatti for his relentless punching style while also getting knocked around. Joel Casamayor had a lot to prove that night coming off a controversial decision over Jose Armand Santa Cruz a few months back. Casamayor knocked down the young Katsidis twice in the 1st round only for Katsidis to come back in the later rounds knocking Casamayor through the ropes with a vicious body shot (which hilariously Casamayor claims after the fight he wasn't hurt from that LOL). Casamayor started to pick up steam and in the 8th and 9th landed the harder shots until katsidis was caught in the 10th round with a nasty left hook. He managed to get up on wobbly legs but it was only seconds after where Casamayor finished the job with a 10th round stoppage.
After the fight he mentioned he wanted a big money fight with Manny Pacquiao as Nate Campbell's camp stormed the ring challenging Casamayor (who Casamayor had beaten years before).
Here's footage of the Casamayor vs Katsidis fight:
