I mean...Sly brought Rocky & Rambo back, so why not good ol' Axel Foley?? Both Eddie Murphy & Brett Ratner are attached to bring another Beverly Hills Cop movie to the silver screen.

I really don't know where they can go with the movie, but I guess thats why we have "writers". The film is supposed to begin production in 2009 with a 2010 release (how old with Eddie be by then?).

This is absolutely crazy. So apparently the dude who plays the voice of Niko in GTA IV signed a contract for $100,000 to play the role.

But the funny part is he isn't getting any residuals from the sales of the game which has already surpassed the $600 Million mark (Holy Shit!).

"It's tough, when you see Grand Theft Auto IV out there as the biggest thing going right now, when they're making hundreds of millions of dollars, and we don't see any of it," Hollick told the Times. "I don't blame Rockstar. I blame our union for not having the agreements in place to protect the creative people who drive the sales of these games."

Unlike Music & Film, Video Games have yet to have a set structure as far as residuals or royalties for actors or musicians who have songs or voice over roles on games are concerened (or at least not as concrete).

With all the craziness going on with the upcoming comic book films dropping in the next few years, the one that has a lot of people puzzled is the future of the Spiderman series. Just prior to the release of Spiderman 3 it was already rumored that Toby, Dunst, & Raimi would possibly not return for further movies.

So I read recently that they were going to film both parts 4 & 5 simultaneously (which could be dope). But now the question that's coming up is...who will play Spidey??

Memorial Day '08 Wrap Up

I usually just chill on Memorial Day Weekend. South Beach is literally minutes away from me, but that shit is just a living breathing headache. But definitely check Nikki Beach if you ever get down there. If you don't mind a lil House music, definitely a chill vibe (Try the Mojito!!!)

So, let's see:

1. Pauli Malignaggi fought over the weekend and was rockin...wait for it...EXTENSIONS!!! But funnier than that visual, his corner actually had to cut his extensions midway through the fight because they were swinging around like Milli Vanilli in the Girl You Know It's True Video (I'm not exaggerating). Granted he took yet another close win, but it locks a Fall match up with him and Ricky Hatton who fought Juan Lazcano in the Main Event in an unimpressive showing. There were 2 points in the fight where Lazcano hurt Hatton bad only for the ref to step in and help Hatton to his corner to get his shoes tied (did I mention the fight was in UK?). He still came away with a win, but this was a clear sign Hatton should not face Mayweather again.

2. UFC 84 was over the weekend. Pretty decent card. The highlight of the night was definitely the video posted below.

Looks like this Bush movie is really going forward. The Hollywood Reporter released new info regarding Richard Dreyfuss playing our favorite VP Dick Cheney.

Other actors confirmed are as follows: Josh Brolin (President Bush), Thandie Newton (Condoleezza Rice) and Elizabeth Banks (Laura Bush).

The film will be released this October (ironically prior to Election Day) followed by the DVD release in January (when GW finally leaves office). Coincidence??

I know I'm not the only one barking up this tree, but seriously...what is with all these artists trying to get recognition off of bombarding mine and millions of other's Comments section with "Buy my album" or "I got new beats!!!"

Real talk, step your online game up. I mean, let's be real...Myspace isn't what it used to be about 2-3 years ago as far as getting "noticed". Today you have to venture out and create your own lane as far as getting your music out on top of the traditional methods.

Part of the reason why I do this blog page is to create another avenue for my music to be heard on a broader scale as well as opening people up to what I'm into besides music (I am human after all).

Bottom line, go the extra mile if you want your music heard. Last time i checked, Myspace wasn't an A&R.

Martin Scorsese Backs Out of Bob Marley Biopic

For those who aren't aware, there is a biopic in production based on the legendary Bob Marley that is set to release in 2010.

Martin Scorsese was set to direct the film but had to back out because of "scheduling conflicts" (usually means money). But news has surfaced that Jonathan Demme, who won an Oscar for Silence of the Lambs (Claaarriisseeee...), will take over Scorsese's role as director. Ziggy Marley will be the executive producer of the film.

Demme is also slated to direct a biopic on George Harrison and former president Theodore Roosevelt.

I can't believe it's taken this long to make a movie on such a legendary figure like Marley. Hopefully it will open more ears to his music as El Cantante did for Hector Lavoe.

Boxing Update: 5/18/09

Chris Byrd made news when he stated he was dropping down to Light Heavyweight coming off a lengthy career at Heavyweight. But once people finally got a glimpse of him at 174 pounds, the question marks raised about how well he'd do at 170 lbs and if his power (as if he ever had any) would transfer and if he would be too dehydrated.
Well those questions were answered this past Friday when prospect Shawn George knocked Byrd down 3 times making Byrd eventually quit on his feet.

I can honestly tell you this was a sad thing to watch. One of the knockdowns amazingly injured his shoulder as he was trying to catch himself making his should sort of extend upwards (you have to see it). His wife stated she will never allow him to fight again. Good call...

HBO put on a pretty good triple header last night highlighting the up and coming Cuban defective Yuriorkis Gamboa in his HBO debut against Darling Jiminez. Jiminez surprisingly stood really strong against Gamboa's constant pressure and speed. Gamboa though kept his hands down throughout the fight which actually kept Jiminez in the fight as he landed some pretty flush left hooks to the face and some to the body. Gamboa definitely has a promising career, but he definitely needs to clean up some of the flaws he displayed last night (mainly keeping his hands down)as his camp have already mentioned future fights with the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. But keep an eye on him, he'll be a recognizable name very soon.

Murphy Makin A Return???

MGM recently stated that they're planning to remake Red Dawn which originally starred Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey about a group of young American Rebels battling a Soviet insurgence.

But the news that caught some attention was the possibility of remaking Robocop.

Nothing is set in stone as of yet, but stay tuned. I don't see how they would pass that up.

George Lucas Talks Indy 5?

With just a week away from the 1st Indiana Jones movie in 20 years, George Lucas is spilling the beans on a possible 5th installment of the series. He states both Spielberg & himself left the option for a possible sequel leaving new cast member and Transformers alumni Shia LaBeouf as the lead in the 5th movie and have Harrison Ford play a role similar to what Sean Connery played in The Last Crusade.

"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison this," he told Friedman. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

Ok...if they're going to make more Indy films (with Indy not even being the main character)...why are they not making Star Wars Episodes VII-VIV???

Cotto vs Margarito Officially Signed

YESSSSS!!!! Just the news I needed to hear from the atrocious day I've been having so far.

The fight will be held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand on July 26th on PPV.

This fight has so much riding on it. You got the 1 guy who everyone wants Floyd to fight (Cotto) against the guy some say Floyd was duckin a few years back (Margarito).

Some would say this is a tough fight to call, but I don't see it that way. Cotto is far more superior with his boxing skills, has great footwork, and has built up his speed and defense quite impressively. Margarito, coming off another KO win over Kermit Cintron, ironically had a June 9th fight with Cotto last year but turned it down to fight up and coming Welterweight Paul Williams only to lose by unanimous decision.

I couldn't tell you how Cotto will come in and do in the fight because he continuously switches his style up during the fight. It really all depends on how Margarito comes in, which will probably be coming straight forward and pressuring Cotto (which Cotto is very good at doing too). Regardless, both guys will put on a hell of a show and I got Cotto winning by late TKO.

Throwback: 6th Sense - Common

I was actually pollyin' with my man about which Common album was his best (you know...random Hip Hop talk) and I hold Like Water for Chocolate along with One Day It'll All Make Sense in very high regard. Like Water for Chocolate today is mostly remembered as the late Dilla's opus producing a good chunk of the album including what I call Comm's first hit "The Light" (I still hear that song from time to time on the radio). With all that being said, I put in LWFC for nostalgic purposes and totally forgot Premier had one of the highlights of the album with 6th Sense. I remember going to the Spitkicker show around the time LWFC was set to release and Comm shut the music off and gave a small speech only to end off with "...the revolution will not be televised...". As far as the crowd? Can we say...LOST IT???

Definitely one of my favorite artists and producers together making in my eyes an incredible joint that doesn't get the notoriety it deserves 8 years later. Enjoy.

I had a good time, dope show!

lupe opened it up. he did pretty much his whole entire catalog.
all the hits plus underground hits, kick push dope set.

Nerd was next and man i really loved their set, they did this new joint off the new album called "Spazz" and man that joint has a climax that really hits hard in a concert venue or just period, Chris Brown came out and crumped to it, very dope. they did all the hits, not as long of a set as i wanted but still one of the highlights for me.

third was Rihanna which was mostly something for my girl, she was ok to me, sexy as hell though.

and Kanye wow..this dude is like the Michael Jackson of hip hop, his set was crazy, the intro to it with the spaceship crashing the whole movie feel and theme park ride feel to it was sick. he performed each song with so much heart and energy. he did all the hits funny part during his set is when he had been "stuck on the planet for so long" he said man "i need some pus..." stopped then the female robot controlling the spaceship was like "maybe i can help you with that" then turned into bangin girl on screen which was the intro for gold digger, overall dope show.

My only complaint was the lack of surprise guests

With that said Timbaland came out in the audience to front of house and just hung out there for a bit during the intermission before Kanye's set and the whole place went nuts.

If you're not familiar with Chico Corrales, he was one of the top lightweight boxers of our time. His most memorable fight came against Luis Castillo in a nail biter that was helmed Fight of the Year in 2005.

On May 7th 2007 he was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident in Las Vegas (where he lived at the time). He had recently come off a KO loss from moving up to Welterweight (where he was visibly out of shape). There were talks about him suffering from depression and alcohol abuse from his autopsy showing he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Regardless of what demons he was battling in his personal life, he'll always be remembered as a tough fighter who gave it his all anytime he stepped in the ring. Below are some clips from the late fighter.

I'm not exactly sure if this is going to the theaters (highly doubtful), but this is a movie that should stay in the 70's.

The movie tells the story about a couple who find that their newborn baby has an appetite for murder, when scared.

Damn, Comm is really putting in work this year. He's just coming off Street Kings (which unfortunately he had a small role in), he'll be seen later this Summer in A.Jolie's Wanted, and now will be in the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins which also stars Batman himself Christian Bale. The film is set to release May of 2009.

The story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle.

At the rate Comm is going, he can become a big player in the next few years.

Marvel Studios Announces Line-Up Until 2011

If Iron Man is the bar they're setting...I can only imagine how the next batch of movies is going to be.

Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $100.7 million domestically and over $200 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

De La Hoya Beats Forbes, Floyd Is Next...Again

I can't really say Oscar fought a bad fight last night against "Jr Welterweight" Steve Forbes (from The Contender fame), but I can tell you now he will NOT beat Floyd Mayweather his second time around. Forbes did a great job for the little chance he was given. He showed he can definitely fight some of the top JR Welters or even some Welters at that. Oscar to me just didn't look like anything has improved in his game with Mayweather Sr being in the picture now. He went the distance with a much smaller yet quick fighter in Forbes, but could not pull off a KO.

So now we more than likely will see Mayweather vs Oscar 2 along with a rumored fight with Miguel Cotto in December (who has an upcoming fight with rival Welterweight Antonio Margarito). The only way I can see them marketing this fight with a sub par reaction will be the beef between the Mayweather brothers as Mayweather Sr has already gone on record stating he'll train Oscar for the Floyd rematch in September.

The interesting thing though is that this fight regardless of the outcome will set up an interesting December with Cotto looming around for a big fight with either Oscar or Floyd (more likely Oscar). But what if Oscar pulls off the impossible? Does he sign off for a 3rd fight with Mayweather or does he take the biggest challenge then he can take, which will be with Cotto.

Let me start off first by saying this is without a doubt the best Marvel adaption they've ever made. Yes I said it...better than all the Spideys & X-Mens. There really isn't a flaw I can point out in the movie. Even when there was no action, Downey Jr did an excellent job as Tony Starks with his dry humor and little one liners. But when the action scenes started...Dios Mio!!!!!!!!! Insane!

I left the theater incredibly satisfied until I found out the next morning reading reviews that there was a surprise ending at the end of the credits.

If you haven't seen the movie, DON'T CLICK ON THE VIDEO (unless you just don't care)

ShockTillYouDrop released the first pics of the upcoming remake of Wes Craven's 70s Rape & Gorefest Last House on the Left. The original drew a shit load of controversy due to its disturbing death scenes and consequently was given the tag of "It's Only A Movie..." for it's marketing.

The story tells about a pair of adventurous teen girls that are kidnapped, raped and murdered by a gang of thugs. The killers unwittingly hole up in the home of one victim's parents, who, upon realizing what their guests did, devise gruesome revenge.

The movie is set to release later this year.

Riley Steps Down As Heat Coach

MIAMI (AP) - Pat Riley's worst season as coach of the Miami Heat will be his last.
The Hall of Famer will resign as coach Monday afternoon but remain team president, a person close to Riley said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because an announcement had yet to be made.

As team president, Riley will continue to oversee a plan to halt the team's dramatic fall after it won the NBA championship in 2006. The Heat finished this season with the NBA's worst record — 15-67.

It's believed Riley could name his replacement Monday. He has been grooming longtime assistant Erik Spoelstra for the job. That would follow the path Riley took when he previously promoted Stan Van Gundy. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Monday that Spoelstra would get the job.
